DEER PARK, Napa County — The local Deer Park Fire Safe Council is identified as a recognized Firewise USA site by Napa Communities Firewise Foundation, giving the community a framework for neighborhood-level wildfire preparation.
What the local council does
The official Deer Park Fire Safe Council page identifies the area’s Firewise designation and a community wildfire protection plan. It lists an estimated population of 1,535 people, approximately 1,393 structures and a planning area covering about 10,587 acres.
Firewise recognition involves organizing residents around risk reduction and reporting work completed on defensible space and property hardening. The local organization encourages homeowners to document how much time and money they invest in vegetation management and home improvements.
Does a certificate guarantee an insurance discount?
No. The council says providing a Firewise certificate to an insurance company may help some policyholders qualify for a discount. Each insurer sets eligibility and documentation rules, and an address within the wider Deer Park area is not automatically eligible for every policy benefit.
Preparing before the next emergency
Residents can review the council’s protection plan, evaluate the immediate area around their homes, maintain safe access for emergency vehicles and create an evacuation plan covering children, pets and anyone who needs transportation assistance. Firewise recognition does not mean the community is fireproof or that local emergency orders can be ignored.
For local involvement or confirmation of certificate status, contact the council at deerpark@napafirewise.org. Use the council’s official page to find community-specific resources.
